Black Friday, do you know its origin?

Black Friday is celebrated the day after Thanksgiving in the United States and marks the beginning of the Christmas shopping season.
Its origins date back to the 1960s in Philadelphia, where the police used the term to describe the chaos generated by crowds of shoppers. Over time, merchants adopted the term to refer to the "black zone", symbolizing the moment when their accounts went from red to black, that is, from losses to profits.
Interestingly, Black Friday has not only grown in popularity in the US, but has expanded worldwide, becoming a global phenomenon. Additionally, Cyber Monday, which occurs on the following Monday, has established itself as the go-to online shopping day, complementing Black Friday deals.
Another curiosity is that, despite being known for its huge discounts, Black Friday has also been the subject of criticism for excessive consumerism and shopper behaviour. However, it remains a key date for retailers and consumers, marking the start of the festive season .
